Oil in Croatia
Croatia is on its way of becoming known for their amount of oil and gas, as well as the pristine blue waters and coastal cities. About a year ago, Croatia launched an offshore hydrocarbon licensing round for oil. The country hopes to use the oil found in this region to become less dependent on imported oil and become the energy hub of Europe. By becoming the energy hub of Europe, the Croatian economy will boost because they will be exporting a lot of their oil to other countries.
Croatian Economy
Croatia has a Market economy, because it is very service-based. according to the CIA, in 2014, 70% of Croatia's labor force worked with service related occupations. Many of these jobs occur with tourist-related activities, as many people travel to Croatia for leisure. The country is ranked as one of the top 20 tourist destinations in the world. Shipbuilding has become the largest source of export in Croatia, as well as the food processing and chemical industries.
Unemployment Rate: 19.7% (2014)
Labor Force: 70.4% in service related occupations (2014)

It is interesting that the unemployment rate and the amount of the population below poverty are so similar. Normally, these two rates are not as close, but in Croatia, they seem to be almost the same. With 70.4% of the labor force being involved with services, we are able to see that Croatia is very relient on people from other countries for their economy. Through all of their services, Croatia is able to be one of the world's leaders in tourism and services.
