Biodiversity in Australia is imperative to the cultural diversity of the country. Without biodiversity, the traditions and histories of events would not be the same in the country. If biodiversity changes, it has an effect on the cultural diversity of a country in a few ways. I think that a country's Government should be involved in supporting and protecting biodiversity because of the effect that it has on a country's cultural diversity.
The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is one of the country's most desirable tourist locations. Tourism provides jobs for citizens and money to the economy within a country. 65% of tourists that visit Australia engage in one or more outdoor activity that is involved with the environment. Approximately two million people visit the Great Barrier Reef per year. With climate change and ongoing pollution, this reef is in danger, which is one of the reasons why the Australian Government should be involved in protecting it. The country relies on tourism to bring money into their economy, and if one of the largest tourist attractions is lost, the country could get caught in financial troubles. With the government being involved in protecting the environment, they will be saving people from lost jobs, and will be improving the economy and the cultural diversity of their country by providing people with jobs and opportunities. It is important for the country to inform people of the importance of the environment, as a way to engage people in helping the environment.
Some people may disagree with the fact that biodiversity and cultural diversity are related. People may not believe that the environment that they are surrounded by has an effect on them and their ways of life. I disagree however, because I have experienced the outdoors in way that I can see how it has an affect on people's way of life. I love to travel, and I have seen the ways that an environment is used to attract tourists. When you think of the commercials that you have seen for travel destinations, there is always a beach, snow, or mountains that grab your attention. Without the strong biodiversity of a country, it would lose its tourists and the beauty of the country itself. If a country that relies on tourism as part of their economy doesn't do anything to protect its biodiversity, it will be losing part of its cultural diversity.
